The trip started the day before with me,
rather, stupid me, taking the local way to Gävle, i.e. SL Pendeltåg to
Upplands Väsby then Upptåget to Gävle which saved me about 70kr. In
return, I had to wait some 3 hours in Gävle in the middle of the night
with nobody in sight.

About two hours later I arrived in Gävle
with the train above. As you see here, there was only one bus departure
left for that day, but there were still a number of passenger trains left
before the day came to an end. For me, my train is on the second row
"01:45 Storlien", which came some 70 minutes late.
Day 1

But late than never I guess. A few hours on the night train and then I got
off at Sundsvall. Here we have a Regina that will serve as
"Mittnabotåget", most likely to Östersund in a few hours and two X2000,
most likely to Stockholm (-Göteborg) in the background.

The good thing about Sundsvall was that the
waiting room was open at that hour in the morning so I didn't have to wait
outside in the cold.

From Sundsvall I took bus 10 to Härnösand,
about one hour away. Unfortunately it was more or less a big mess at the
bus station in Härnösand, which made it hard to photograph buses. Apart
from that, there was no snow! That did not make the situation any better.

After the rush hour I decided to take a walk in Härnösand. Here we see the
main road going up to where the local bus stops.

Another shot from the same place, except towards the water.

A few hours later I left Härnösand bounded for Kramfors. Here we see the
suspesion bridge "Hög Kustbron", taken from the bus.

I had to change buses at Lunde Westerlunds.
The bus I took continued onto the bridge in the background towards
Örnsköldsvik while I took the local bus which took me to Kramfors.

Arrived at Kramfors at 11:15 and the noon rush-hour was in about 1 1/2
hours.

Since I wanted to cover Sollefteå as well, I
decided to not stay for the "real" afternoon rush hour around 15:30 and
instead took the "mini"-rush hour around 13:00. There are no bus stop
plates here, the buses just drive onto this gravel field and hopefully
they all know where they should stop...

Instead of taking the express bus to Sollefteå (bus 90), I decided to take
a detour to Nyland and there change to a bus line that is run by taxis.
Here the taxi is coming down to the railway station Nyland to pick me up.
There was some confusion in the beginning regarding my destination, but
after a bit of negotiating, I was driven all the way to Sollefteå.

Sollefteå lost its passenger train traffic a while ago, but with the
opening of Botniabanan in a few years, Sollefteå may get its passenger
traffic back.

This colorful infromation board telling
where all the buses depart was found right in front of the train station.

Another picture of the station with the
railway at the left, bus station in the right and station building in the
center.

Before I took the bus to my first pit stop
(Övik), I took a picture of the station building. Notice the SJ emblem on
the front side of the building.
